What do you recognize someone by? What makes that person unique? How does someone show that? And to whom? The other, and the identity of that person, is what Rob Renoult (Friesland, 1955) has been concerned with as an artist since the 1980s. His oeuvre includes paintings, installations, sculptures and work on paper.
These colorful sheets are from the series "You Never Told Me My Name - CS," a series of drawings, each of equal size, in which Renoult depicts silhouettes of human figures. In each of the drawings, Renoult manages to use elements such as posture, color and abstract visual elements to create completely unique figures each time.
